Thoughts and Feelings of Music Essay Example For Students
Thoughts and Feelings of Music Essay What does music signify in modern culture today? Is music an outlet for emotion or is it just a sound made from a speaker? According to Tyrome Bowie music is an outlet to express emotions and a source of energy to let out frustrations in the common world of life. He is a man with relentless talent and a vision shown threw his art of music. Although he is not a well-known musician he has worked with extraordinary people that some might say paved the way in the music industry. Just like a normal citizen in the world he works a nine to five job and goes out to normal restaurants to eat. We will write a custom essay on Thoughts and Feelings of Music specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now Hes not a superstar or a famous songwriter for a major record company. Hes a father, a devoted husband, and a provider for his family. Music to Tyrome is a vitamin something that lifts him up when he is down and gives him the strength to go on without fear or worry. Holding on to his bass guitar like it was a part of him, like an extra extension to his heart. You could see the passion in his movements as he played a song dedicated to his wife (my Aunt) which passed away in December of last year. Most musicians play from the heart, the very soul of their emotions is expressed with every movement of the string. Thats what I could see in his eyes as he played his big bass guitar, full blown passion. Which all of this couldnt have been possible without the influence of his mother. According to him his mother gave him the support he needed to pursue his dream as a musician. She was the one that put up with the learning process, the sour notes, and the countless hours of practice. Even his son Ty Jr. wanted to learn how to play the sax due to his dads influences in music and his passion. He even made his room into a studio, rearranging his bedroom to fit a small studio in his room. This was the beginning stages of a childs dream to become something big in the world of music. Growing up listening to Stanley Clark, Marcus Miller, Victor Houden, and Bill Dickens which were all fantastic bass players he adopted the passion to be like them. Most kids at that time were into basketball, football, and baseball but he had a different sport in mind the creative art form of music. He played with many great artists including Ramsey, Steve Jennings, and a personal friend Tony Taylor. All of which werent famous musicians in our eyes but they were some of the greatest artists that influenced him to become who his is today. Theres only one instrument that he feels safe with and comfortable with playing and of course its the bass guitar. Its like a blanket to him shielding him from harm and keeping him out of the streets as he says. This instrument was not only away to escape the world it also keep him away from it as well. Without his guitar he couldve easily been drawn into the crowd of teenagers hanging outside getting into trouble. Music gave him a purpose in life and created a lifetime bond within him. When asked why the bass guitar was his favorite he stated most of the bass players in his day got the girls. Of course when you are a teenager thats what concerns us the most. Apparently in his day bass players were the ones that got all of the notice and recognition. Even with the constant distractions he still managed to practice and pursue his dreams. Over the years he has met and worked with a lot of people including Joe, R. Kelly, and Donnell Jones. Working with these various artists he was able to key in on his own unique style of music. Which he describes as a neo soul and jazz combination a perfect description of his music and style. As a child he first fell in love with the bass guitar and the deep feeling it gave when he played it. .u4876556d036d407ed0ee78823def2c49 , .u4876556d036d407ed0ee78823def2c49 .postImageUrl , .u4876556d036d407ed0ee78823def2c49 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u4876556d036d407ed0ee78823def2c49 , .u4876556d036d407ed0ee78823def2c49:hover , .u4876556d036d407ed0ee78823def2c49:visited , .u4876556d036d407ed0ee78823def2c49:active { border:0!important; } .u4876556d036d407ed0ee78823def2c49 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u4876556d036d407ed0ee78823def2c49 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u4876556d036d407ed0ee78823def2c49:active , .u4876556d036d407ed0ee78823def2c49:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u4876556d036d407ed0ee78823def2c49 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u4876556d036d407ed0ee78823def2c49 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u4876556d036d407ed0ee78823def2c49 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u4876556d036d407ed0ee78823def2c49 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u4876556d036d407ed0ee78823def2c49:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u4876556d036d407ed0ee78823def2c49 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u4876556d036d407ed0ee78823def2c49 .u4876556d036d407ed0ee78823def2c49-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u4876556d036d407ed0ee78823def2c49:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Leonard Bernstein Biography EssayOne of the most exciting times he remembers is when he was out fishing alone on the docks. A day in the life of a nurse
A day in the life of a nurse If you ask your favorite nurse what a typical workday is like, you might get a laugh. No day is ââ¬Å"typicalâ⬠in the healthcare world, with all the different kinds of situations (both emergency and not) that you may be facing on any given shift. But if youââ¬â¢re thinking about becoming a nurse, itââ¬â¢s important to think about what to expect on the job. So based on stories of real-life nurses, hereââ¬â¢s what you might expect to see and do on a typical shift. Nurses can work any time of day, but letââ¬â¢s look at a day shiftââ¬â¢s responsibilities and tasks for a hospital nurse. The early wake-upMany daytime nursing shifts start early (often by 7 a.m.), so that means the snooze button is not your friend. Exercise, breakfast, coffee, shower- whatever the morning routine is, it may be happening well before the rest of the world is ready to motivate for the day. If youââ¬â¢re more of a ââ¬Å"saunter in ten minutes late, check your emailâ⬠kind of person , then nursing might not be the ideal career choice.Checking inA hospital isnââ¬â¢t like a factory, where one shift ends before another starts and no communication needs to happen. The night nurses and the day nurses are a team, and making sure that patients get seamless care means that thereââ¬â¢s a daily handoff of information at the start of every shift. The day nurse gets intel on what happened overnight, if patients have specific needs, or if thereââ¬â¢s anything important that the nurse needs to know for his or her shift. This is also a chance for the nurse to read up on any physician notes, examine patient charts, prepare for their roster of patients, and review assignments and instructions. This may include checking email, coordinating schedules for the day with doctors, arranging for particular tests, or setting up equipment. Basically, everything that will keep the shift better organized happens up front. This is also a chance for the nurse to check supplies and in ventory too, to make sure they have enough for a shift. This is especially crucial in the emergency room or intensive care wards, where a high-stress situation could arise at any time and when you least want to run low on basic supplies. Everything the nurse does for a patient is usually noted, updated, and charted right away- you donââ¬â¢t want to risk not making an important note on a patient, then getting sidetracked by something else.Morning roundsA lot can happen between shifts, so much of the morning is spent checking in with each patient (new or existing) and tracking their status. Itââ¬â¢s common to do bloodwork in the morning, do glucose tests for diabetic patients, take vital signs, etc. Nurses also administer any scheduled medications for their patients during this time. If patients need to be prepped for procedures, itââ¬â¢ll often happen in the morning.Patients that are ready to be discharged from the hospital are ready for their exit procedures, like getting d octor sign-off, removing IVs or other equipment, processing any last tests (like vital signs or bloodwork to confirm that they can safely be discharged), and educating patients (or their family members) on any follow-up care needs. On these morning rounds, nurses also typically help their patients with daily living tasks, like eating breakfast (for patients who canââ¬â¢t do it themselves), bathing, going to the bathroom, getting dressed, or walking around.Mid-day/lunchLunchtime for nurses is rarely a set time period. Obviously eating lunch is necessary if you want to keep up your energy, but having the time to do it can be a luxury when youââ¬â¢re dealing with an endless list of patients who have immediate needs all day. Many nurses grab a quick bite somewhere nearby (either in the hospital or close by) when they can. Lunchtime could be cut short by an emergency or just a bustling schedule. Meal times and personal time during the day are definitely at a premium for nurses, depe nding on the workload and the type of facility where you work. A clinic with set appointments is likely very different from a hospital or urgent care situation, when you could be needed at any time. Strategic food (like something you bring from home and can eat fast if necessary, or food you can grab from the cafeteria) is key.Afternoon roundsMuch like the morning rounds, afternoon rounds are kicked off by a check-in process to see if there are new patients, if patients have been discharged, or if any patentââ¬â¢s status has changed since the morning. Nurses do a new round of checking in with each patient, reviewing their charts for updates, making notes as necessary, and again- keeping close track of everything happening with his or her patients. Afternoon is also time for a new round of meds being distributed to patients, as well as any follow-up tests or previously scheduled procedures. Nurses help prep the patients as needed. The afternoon might also include visiting hours, so nurses are often tasked with updating family members on a patientââ¬â¢s condition, educating them about what the patientââ¬â¢s medical needs will be once he or she leaves, and answering patient questions. For a post-surgical ward, nurses may also start seeing an influx of patients coming out of surgery and recovery. The nurse follows up with surgeons and physicians as necessary, setting up each patient for his or her next tests, procedures, or milestones. The nurse is also likely to help with things like changing bandages or dressing and ensuring that these post-surgical patients are comfortable. And if thereââ¬â¢s time in between all of these many tasks, the afternoon may have some chances to catch up on administrative tasks like patient charts, making notes, or email. But like with lunch or personal breaks, thereââ¬â¢s never really a guarantee that the nurse will have a full chunk of time to sit down and attend to these things.Checking outJust like at the beginning of t he day, the end of the day sees the shift handover process between day nurses and night nurses. Thereââ¬â¢s the nurse-to-nurse download of information, either in person or via detailed notes and patient charts. The day isnââ¬â¢t over just yet- the nurse needs to make sure that the transition to the next shift goes just as seamlessly as his or her own shift started in the morning so that patients are getting consistent care. That means checking and double-checking the patient information to make sure everythingââ¬â¢s as accurate and clear as it can be.Before leaving, the nurse may also start prepping for the next dayââ¬â¢s shift: reviewing appointments, checking email, reviewing assignments. At that point, the nurse gets to leave, only to start the process again in about 12 hours. What a nurseââ¬â¢s day is like can vary in a few different ways. For example, a home nurse will have a different set of tasks than a hospital nurse, who will have a different day than a nurse in a private practice. And no matter what a nurse does and where he or she does it, thereââ¬â¢s always the unpredictability of working in the medical world. You always need to be sharp, and ready for emergencies or urgent needs- patients donââ¬â¢t care if you were out late last night or if you really just need a mental break for a few minutes to clear your head. Itââ¬â¢s an incredibly demanding field, but can be a highly rewarding one.And if youââ¬â¢re thinking about taking on this daily nursing life, we have the tools to help you get started. How to Become a Labor and Delivery NurseThe Complete Stress Management Guide for Nurses14 Things You Need to Know as a New NurseTop 3 Survival Traits of New NursesJob Spotlight: Clinical NurseCreate a Winning Registered Nurse ResumeHow Long Does It Take to Become a Nurse? What You Need to be a Stellar Nurse

International Finance - Essay Example Every five years EU citizens elect the European Parliament. Other significant EU institutions include the European Commission, the Council of the European Union, the Court of Justice of the European Union, the European Council, and the European Central Bank. Thereby EU has created one market through a uniform system of regulations which apply in all member countries. As a final stage of economic integration of the EU a monetary union (an optimum currency area) was formed. The Economic and Monetary Union (EMU) of 17 EU member states who have accepted the euro (â⠬) as their common currency and solitary legal tender, makes the Eurozone, which is officially known as the euro area. Eurozone currently includes Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Spain. Other EU member states are expected to fulfil the strict entry requirements to enter the Eurozone while some EU state s namely Sweden, Denmark and the United Kingdom has chosen to stay outside the Eurozone. European Central Bank carries the responsibility of the monetary policy of the area, whereas other zone/euro related decisions are co-operated through the euro group. Part A and B of this paper will review the case for Eurozone membership in regard of the optimum currency area theory and issues with fixed exchange rate systems respectively. Thereby finally the paper will conclude how the Eurozone membership can be attractive to new applicants. A) Optimum currency area theory in the Eurozone A geographic region which would maximize economic efficiency by the entire region sharing a single currency is known as an optimum currency area (OCA). The earliest mention of the concept was by Abba Lerner (Scitovsky, 1984); although most acknowledged development of the pertaining theory goes to Robert Mundell. Mundell argues that for perfect regional economic integration the said region must be an OCA. Thus he presented two simulations. First was an OCA with fixed expectations: the argument in brief is that uneven shocks are considered to challenge the real economy. These shocks are significant and cannot be organised. Also the international monetary policy (interest rates) cannot be modified for a specific situation of each integral region. Thus a regime with floating exchange rate is considered better than a fixed regime (Mundell, 1961). By this means the properties (Mongelli, 2008) of a successful optimal currency area are reviewed below. Mobility of factors of production including labour. High market integration inside a group of partner countries can lessen the need to modify real factor prices and the nominal exchange rate between countries in reaction to disturbances (Mundell, 1961). The belief that mobility of factors of production enhances both efficiency and welfare was confirmed by the trade theory. Such mobility is likely display its effect in the long-run. The production factorsââ¬â¢ mobility is restricted by the speed that direct investment can be generated by one country and absorbed by another. Likewise, labour mobility which includes physical capability to travel (workers' rights, visas, etc.), lack of cultural blocks to free movement (such as different languages and

HND Organisation Behaviour - Assignment Example He added that since needs are many; they are arranged in order of importance i.e. from basic to a complex one. A person advances to the next level of needs after the lower level of need has been satisfied and he progresses up the hierarchy. This motivation theory lists the human needs from the lowest to highest as physiological, safety and security, love, self-esteem, and self-actualization. In Maslow's theory, the lowest level is physiological needs and money happens to be one of the physiological needs. According to Herzberg's two-factor model of motivation, money as a Physiological need in Maslow's theory is a motivator, though it tends to have a motivating effect on staff that lasts only for a short period. Maslow demonstrated that at the higher level of the hierarchy, praise, respect, recognition, empowerment and a sense of belonging are more powerful motivators than money. McGregor places money in his theory X and Y places money in theory X category and he feels it not a good motivator of work. He places praise and recognition in theory Y category and he feels that they are strong motivators than money. Leadership is the ability of an individual to influence, motivate, and enable others to contribute toward the effectiveness and success of the organizations of which they are members. (House, Hanges, Javidan, Dorfman, and Gupta, 2004) There is a number of leadership styles namely: Authoritarian, democratic and free reign. For effective management, a good leader should use all three leadership styles. Authoritarian leadership style is used when the leader does not want any contribution from his fellow employees because of the limited time, have all the instructions to solve a problem and the employees are well motivated. Democratic leadership style is used when the leader involves the other employees in decision making but he is usually the one who makes the final decision. This style is applicable if a leader has time and want to gain more commitment and motivation from their employees. Free reign leadership style is used when the leader has trust and confidence with the people below him and for this case he allows them to make decisions and delegate tasks. The employees are supposed to analyze the situation and determines what is to be done and how is to be done. The leader sets priorities and he is responsible for the decisions that are made. There is no one best leadership style but the three should be employed for the effective management of an organization. (Kouzes and Posner, 2002)

Pvr Cinemas Essay INTRODUCTION Over the last decade, India has registered the fastest growth among major democracies and is now the fourth largest economy in terms of ââ¬Ëââ¬Ëpurchasing power parityââ¬â¢Ã¢â¬â¢.Over the years, spending power has been steadily increasing in India. On an average, 30-40 million people are joining the middle class every year. The consumption spending is rising due to increasing disposable incomes on account of sustained growth in income levels and reduction in personal income tax over the last decade. The Indian Entertainment Industry is expected to significantly benefit from this fast economic growth, as this cyclically sensitive industry grows faster when the economy is expanding. In case of PVR, they make use of all their tangible elements to prove to their customers that their movie tickets are worth the price they are paying. Also, since some of the other movie theatres (which are not multiplexes) are still offering movies at rates as low as Rs 35, it is the task of its marketer to ensure that PVR comes across as a superior brand in terms of cinema viewing as well as the experience. Itââ¬â¢s positioning is evident in its mission statement also which saysâ⬠A commitment to deliver the best quality cinema viewing Everywhere, Every time.â⬠MARKETING MIX ââ¬â 7 Ps 1. SERVICE PRODUCT/ SERVICE PACKAGE A product (in the marketing context) may be tangible, intangible or both. In case of services, on the contrary, the tangible component is nil or minimal. In services, there is no or very little tangible element because of which they are considered as benefits, which are offered to the target market. First, a service is a bundle of features and secondly, there benefits and features have relevance for a specific target market. Therefore while developing a service product, it is important that the package of benefits in the service offer must have a customers perspective. 5 product levels are as follows:Core Benefit is the MOVIES that the customer comes to a cinema hall for, along with the attendant experience of PVR. The expected product in PVRââ¬â¢s case would be ambience, hygiene, good service, parking, candy bar etc.PVR has augmented its product offerings: * Luxury cinema PVR has brought to its customers the experience of luxury cinema. After the tremendous success of Cinema Europa in Delhi, PVR Cinemas has introduced the concept of luxury viewing to Bangalore as well. Gold Class Cinemas have been introduced for the first time in India, are two ultra luxurious exclusive auditoriums, each equipped with 32 plush and fully reclining seats and generous legroom. Patrons can also enjoy star like treatment at the exclusive Gold Class lounge which provides an excellent pre cinema experience with scrumptious food and beverages. * Bulk Bookings There are special arrangements for bulk bookings (of twenty or more tickets) done by corporates. Details can be filled online and PVR executives themselves get in touch with the concerned people. * E-booking and tele-booking PVR also provides the factility of e-booking, which was first started by PVR, it has now been copied by Satyam cineplexes as well. It also offers telebooking * Parties at PVR PVR has also started helping customers in planning birthday/kitty parties at PVR. They have made PVR a wholesome entertainment experience than just a movie watching spree. * Movie newsletter and magazine To keep its customers hooked on to movies and to PVR, it has also come out with an online newsletter called ââ¬ËPVRWireââ¬â¢ is directly mailed to the subscribers and can also be downloaded from their website. They have also launched a movie magazine called ââ¬ËMovies Firstââ¬â¢ . * Movie vouchers They have also taken out the unique concept of movie vouchers which people can use as gifts. Many corporates have also started using these as incentives and rewards for their employees. The vouchers are available in denominations of Rs 100 to Rs 350 and a * minimum of 25 coupons needs to be purchased to avail of the offer. The following options are available in Delhi/NCR The Delhi PVR Movie Money Voucher costs Rs 150/- and is valid right through the week across all cinemas (except PVR Gurgaon Cinema Europa)PVR Gurgaon (Cinema Europa) PVR Movie Money Vouchers cost Rs 160/- The following options are available in BangaloreClassic Mon -Thur : Rs 100/-All Week (including Weekends) : Rs 130/-Europa Mon -Thur : Rs 130/-All Week (including Weekends) : Rs 150/-Gold Class All Week (including Weekends) : Rs 350/- + Rs150/- for food and beverages (optional) THE SERVICE PACKAGE The ââ¬Å"packageâ⬠concept of services product suggests that what you offer to the market is a bundle of different services, tangible and intangible, but there is a main or substantive or ââ¬Ëcoreââ¬â¢ service and around it are built the auxiliary/peripheral/facilitator. It is important to note that facilitating services ate mandatory and if these are left out, the entire service would collapse. Yet another type called supporting services, donââ¬â¢t facilitate the consumption of core services but are used to increase the value and thus differentiate from the competition.Quality Assessment through RATER in case of PVR Focused on developing a procedure for quantifying customerââ¬â¢s service quality can be measured in following dimensions: * Reliability ââ¬â Ability to perform promised service dependably and accurately. PVR is a very well established brand name, and the audience is given excellent experience of the basic product i.e. the movie as well as the other elements involved. Hence, it is very much capable of good delivery of the service it provides. There is no flaw in the quality of the service and is always delivered on time. * Assurance ââ¬â Knowledge and courtesy of employees and their ability to convey truth and confidence.Since PVR is a high contact organization, the employees are well trained in all areas regarding customer interaction and courtesy. PVR movies being a service, heavily relies on its employees, as they are the only mode of direct communication made with the customers. They are well trained and are definitely able to convey the confidence that the brand name represents. * Tangibility ââ¬â Appearance of physical facilities, equipment, personnel etc PVR movies have a lot of tangible elements present like the employees (staff), the movie halls, the candy bars, rest rooms etc, all of which are highly maintained and well kept. * Empathy ââ¬â Caring, individualized attention to the customer.Even though in a service like this customization is not possible, the employees of PVR Cinemas are always very helpful and provide the customers with good assistance whenever needed. From the employees made to sit at the ticket counter to the employee that guides customers to their respective seats in the cinema hall, all employees deliver a very helpful attitude towards the target audience. * Responsiveness ââ¬â Willingness to help customer with prompt service. The employees of PVR are fast and prompt at delivering their service and are taught to cause as less inconvenience as possible to the customers. If a customer places an order via telebooking / online reservation etc, the delivery of the tickets is made well before the show timing at the customerââ¬â¢s doorstep. The employees are well trained. 2. PRICE To many customers, high price means high quality. Services pricing follows the price and practices of pricing of goods and therefore are either cost based or market based. Within these, categories of price may be profit oriented, government controlled, competition or customer oriented. But the characteristics of services do influence the pricing and therefore different methods of pricing are followed in their case. PVR when started off had a huge advantage of being the only one of its kind in Delhi to begin with. Therefore, they could charge a higher amount to its target audience, as they did not hesitate to pay the sum for the new concept. This high pricing helped them make maximum gains. Also, PVR had, and still has a very well planned market position. Its premium positioning affects the customers perceptual positioning. Therefore, they decided on their marketing strategy and pricing, keeping the target market in mind. Hence,we may say that the pricing as well pays a strategic role in their marketing plans. The movie theatres market is a Free Market, even though the government in the past regulated it. This allows PVR as the market leader to set its own prices. Prices that had originally started from Rs 125 (for evening shows) and Rs 90(for morning shows and weekday plans) have increased to a high of Rs 150 and the lowest is Rs 100. The high pricing however has not led to any change in the footfalls that PVR gets. Even in slighter crowded shows, the occupancy rates as low as 35% reaches PVRââ¬â¢s break-even points.PVR Priya has a slightly different pricing system, which varies from Rs 45 to Rs 150 for different slabs of consumers. This has been done to mainly attract the youth and to keep the concept of movie going still affordable at one of its chains. The pricing at PVR Europa is Rs 160 and a Gold Class ticket is charged at Rs. 750. It offers superior ambience, environment, seating, viewing etc in the sum. 3. PLACE / DISTRIBUTION Services are generally created and delivered to the buyer at the same time, therefore creation of time and place utilities is a vital function in services marketing. Irrespective of middlemen or direct sales channel, the factor of location keeping in view the potential markets is the most significant in channel selection and distribution. The issue of location here plays a very important role, as all PVR Cinema Halls are stationed at good locations in the city, which gathers a large number of footfalls for them every day. PVRs usually open at an eventful yet untapped location, followed by which (as we saw in case of Anupam PVR Saket) other retail chains get opened around it as well. Their places are always well situated and are well linked. PVR does not have any other channel of distribution, as their service is sold solely at their chains. They do follow any franchisee outlets, even though they indulge in ticket sales online and via telebooking. The only intermediary involved for proc uring movies are Indian as well as international movie distributors, by way of whom they acquire the movies. * Distribution of Movies The Company has also recently forayed into the Distribution of Hollywood film titles in the country through its 100% subsidiary, PVR Pictures. By virtue of its strong brand equity and partnerships with major independent Hollywood studios like Miramax, Newline Cinemas etc. that are not represented in India through their own offices, PVR has managed to procure and distribute titles in the country. With the advent of the multiplex revolution across the country, the company sees a great opportunity to fill up these upcoming multiplex screens with Hollywood titles. The has successfully distributed major Hollywood titles like Rush Hour 2 , Wedding Planner Chicago , Choclat ,Spy Kids 2 , Makdee etc. 4. PROMOTION Promotion is a very vital part of the marketing mix especially in the case of services. The customer needs to trust or have belief in the service, as he has to pay for it pre-experience. Therefore, it is very important to sell the service in the best possible way. Usually the objective of promoting a service may be to create a brand image, establish a personal relationship with the client and to create an impression of competence, honesty and sincerity to win the buyersââ¬â¢ confidence in sellersââ¬â¢ abilities to deliver the service efficiently. To promote these, the marketer generally employs indirect selling techniques, as it is usually not possible to use the conventional promotion tools like advertising. Promotion activities like community relations, event management, media blitz, corporate identity programs have relevance. 3rd parties like government, unions and interest groups are important, as they are capable of influencing market access. PVR as a brand indulges into print advertisements on every Friday giving out the latest movie schedules. Any new developments are communicated to the audience via press releases. Hence there is a strong element of PR involved. Apart from that, they usually have contests pertaining to latest festivals like Valentines Day, New Years Eve, Oscar Movies Week etc. PVR also has a host of online promotional contests associated with movies The latest one relates to the film King Kong. They are also in collaboration with cellular services like Airtel have SMSand-win contests and give out free tickets to the winners. Also, PVR attracts a lot of commercial shooting / media coverage via programmes etc which promotes it as a brand in a big way. Organizing Star Events on Premiers of movies like ââ¬ËKuch Kuch Hota Haiââ¬â¢ helps PVR relate better with its target audience i.e. the youth. The whole PVR banner and its exterior environment including movie hoardings, banners etc help promote the concept of movie viewing as well as PVR as a strong and successful brand. PVR also hosts premiere shows with leading movie stars visiting the various PVR cinemas. They also host numerous fun events for children while screening animations etc.

Music Analogy :: essays research papers
ââ¬Å"The final years of the 1970ââ¬â¢s saw the emergence of a new style of pop music that would continue in popularity into the early 1980ââ¬â¢s. This music was known, by its fans at that time, as New Waveâ⬠(http://www.erols.com/alloyd/adam2.htm). ââ¬Å"New Waveâ⬠had a particular style that utilized the synthesizer as a main instrument. The synthesizer was a machine that electronically produced music. It gave a certain artificial and metallic feel to the music. The Cure and Erasure, bands formed during that period of time, were some of the bands that implemented the synthesizer into their music. Though both bands fit into the category of ââ¬Å"New Waveâ⬠the feel of their music is somewhat different. To explain the difference I would have to analyze their songs. Two examples of their music that I will analyze are ââ¬Å"Friday Iââ¬â¢m in Loveâ⬠by The Cure and ââ¬Å"Alwaysâ⬠by Erasure. The song ââ¬Å"Friday Iââ¬â¢m in Loveâ⬠by The Cure had a 4/4 meter. The song began with a pickup by the guitar and led into a backbeat by the drums. The synthesizer played a continuous riff providing the ââ¬Å"tingingâ⬠artificial sound and thereââ¬â¢s also bass in the background. There were also sounds towards the end of the song that sounded a lot like the ââ¬Å"theramin.â⬠The beat subdivisions seemed to be triplets because the song seemed to swing and the other subdivisions didnââ¬â¢t match. The correct sequence and lengths of the sections in this particular song can be best labeled as I8+8 A8 B8 C6 B8 Solo8 B8 C6 D8+8 A8 B8 Solo8 Solo8. The labels A and B are to distinguish the two different verses, the label C stands for the chorus and the label D symbolized the new section (the bridge). The vocals within this song have a deeper and a more wailing kind of voice than that of the band Erasure. The song ââ¬Å"Alwaysâ⬠from Erasure also had a 4/4 meter, but unlike The Cure the song did not start out with a pickup and instead of the guitar the song began with the synthesizer. There didnââ¬â¢t seem to be any other distinguishable instruments besides the synthesizer and the drum, though I did seem to hear the use of the theramin for the eerie effect. There were also these clicking sounds, but Iââ¬â¢m assuming the synthesizer made it. The groove of this song was more harmonized and brings to mind the music of the early Beatles. The subdivisions of this song were 8th notes. The sequence and lengths of the sections for this song can be labeled as I8 V8+8 C8+4 V8+8 C8+4 CFADE. The label V symbolizes the verse of the song and
